Held in Spain’s Catalonia region, southwest of Barcelona, the ‘toughest Trailcat 200 in history’ on March 7, 2024, recorded a 60% dropout rate for ultra-runners battling tough conditions in the Costa Daurada mountains.

Spanning three counties and 36 municipalities of the Tarragona province, the third Trailcat 200 ultra distance running event had a demanding and technical route with difficult orientation for all runners. This was accompanied by around 36 hours of rain, and freezing nights, to challenge the participants.

The 2024 edition of Trailcat 200 featured athletes from the Netherlands, Germany, Bulgaria, France, Portugal and the United Kingdom; alongside a strong Spanish representation for the three race distances: 200, 100, and 50 miles. There was a female presence on all three overall podiums of these race distances.

“We aim to teach our participants, in our particular training playground, so that they become ambassadors for the Prades mountains and the Costa Dorada with an event that meets their expectations and provides unforgettable life experiences,” said- Lluís Yebra President of Trailcat.

Dani Buyo, Sports Director of Trailcat, added “Challenging the participants and inspiring the followers to come and test themselves in the future is the goal of this modern adventure with GPS navigation. This is the aim of the Trailcat 200, an adventure combining toughness and scenic beauty.”

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
