The sun-kissed streets of Calahonda buzzed with excitement on Saturday, October 4, as the Garner family, the much-loved stars of Channel 4’s Sun, Sea & Selling Houses, officially unveiled their fourth office of Spanish Property Choice.
Scores of eager locals, fans, and potential buyers lined up outside the sleek new office at Calle Merida de Jarales 5, turning the grand opening into a party fit for the first episode of Series 9 of the hit show.
While the crowd swelled under the Mediterranean sun, the Garner clan – led by the unflappable Sharon and Steve – was hard at work inside, cameras rolling with the production crew for the first episode of the new season. The family’s expansion from their Almería roots to the colourful Costa del Sol is a giant leap, broadening Spanish Property Choice’s reach across Almería and the coast, with offices now dotted throughout the region to serve a booming market of dream-chasers and savvy sellers.

Local real estate expert heading the new office, John Blanca stepped out mid-filming to mingle with those gathered, answering questions on the hottest buys from Torremolinos’ bustling beaches to the serene stretches of Manilva. “The market is tough at the moment,” Blanca later told Euro Weekly News. “There are few listings, but a lot of clients, a lot of demand. However, a big thing here is collaborations. We’ve met some other agents and it it’s lovely to work with them. So, every week we are getting more, and more, and more.” True to his word, the agency’s window display gleamed with a plentiful array of tempting properties, from chic villas to cozy apartments, drawing oohs and aahs from passersby.
Once the indoor shoot wrapped, the Garners – including team stars Emma, Shaun, and Matt – emerged to thunderous applause, as they bridged the worlds of TV glamour and grassroots family business. Sharon, the heart of the operation, took the mic to welcome the masses. “Thank you all so so much,” she beamed, her voice thick with emotion. “You really don’t know how much all this means to us. Sorry if I’m a bit emotional, but this is a massive step for us as a family and a family businesses. We really do appreciate all the support we get from local businesses, ex-clients, and our followers. The welcome we’ve had here on the Costa del Sol, well… I’ve never felt anything like it. It’s been so wonderful.”
She paused as a rogue Lamborghini roared past, engine snarling like a scene from one of their high-stakes deals. Undeterred, Sharon quipped, “This is how it is in the Costa del Sol. In Almeria, it’s more likely to be a donkey and cart.” The crowd erupted in laughter, a perfect snapshot of the family’s down-to-earth charm amid the coast’s luxurious feel.

The ceremonial ribbon-cutting stole the show, with Sharon and Steve‘s grandchildren, Alicia and Lucas, wielding little scissors to declare the office open – a nod to the next generation carrying the Garner legacy. From there, it was all bubbly and bites: guests flooded inside for celebratory drinks and canapés, where the agency’s first eager customers huddled around members of the family, hashing out potential buys and sales. Well-wishers and business partners showered the family with floral tributes, toasting the move.
Shaun Garner, ever the showman, seized the moment for a heartfelt toast. “I’m probably the best to do this, because one thing I’ve got from my parents is my mother’s mouth,” he joked, drawing grins all around. Raising his glass, he raised a glass to his parents: “after many, many years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears, and lot’s of money, you’ve been an amazing success in Almería, and we hope it continues into the Costa del Sol!” Glasses clinked coast-to-coast in agreement, cheers echoing long after.
Reflecting on the whirlwind, Sharon shared with Euro Weekly News: “The welcome we’ve received has been really lovely. Everyone here is so friendly. Coming from Almería, we’re grounded there, settled. So, for us to come here, a brand new area, it’s been quite frightening, but it’s been the right move. We’re in the right area for us.”

For Spanish Property Choice, it’s a launchpad for more Sun, Sea & Selling Houses magic, connecting hearts, homes, and horizons along the Costa del Sol’s sun-drenched shores. Whether you’re hunting your slice of paradise or just a fan of the family’s grit, Calahonda’s newest property hotspot is open for business – and beaming with possibilities.
Spanish Property Choice can be found on Calle Merida de Jarales 5, near to Mercadona, in Sitio de Calahonda. John Blanca says the office is open Monday to Fridays, 9pm til 5.30pm. He invites everyone to check out the listings and have a chat.
