The long‑awaited new health centre in the Rincón de Loix district of Benidorm is now set to begin operations by the end of 2025, according to the latest announcements from the regional government.
The facility, built on a 3,558 m² plot on Avenida Zamora that was ceded by Benidorm Town Hall, will provide around 2,700 m² of usable space and replace the outdated consultorio currently serving the area.
What’s changing
The building will house 18 consultation rooms (12 for family medicine, 6 for nursing) plus a paediatric area with two doctor‑consultations and one nursing consultation.
A dedicated gym for physiotherapy and rehabilitation has been added to the project, responding to community demand. This modification has caused some extension to the initial timeline.
It will also feature an advanced urgent‑care area (with three observation boxes and one critical care box) and ambulance parking.
Why the delay and what it means
Originally the works were scheduled to conclude by end‑2024 after a 23‑month contract awarded in late 2022. However, the inclusion of the rehabilitation gym and other changes to the original design have shifted expectations. The regional health authority now anticipates that the centre will be operational before the end of 2025.
For residents of the Rincón de Loix area — more than 20,000 registered users plus around 2,550 without a doctor assigned, and the many tourists in the district — this means improved access to primary care and urgent services closer to home.
Next steps
With construction in its final phase, the focus will shift to equipping the building and relocating staff and services from the current facility. According to local officials, full service transfer is expected as soon as the building is ready.
Keep in mind
While “before end of 2025” is the official aim, the completion remains conditional on final works, equipment installation and staff relocation. As with many public‐works projects, unexpected delays could occur.
