Solo travel is no longer a rarity but one of the biggest global trends. More and more people are choosing to travel the world on their own, and according to a study by Pangea The Travel Store, women are leading this shift with a 58% share of solo travel bookings.
This phenomenon, which combines freedom, self-knowledge and cultural experiences, has grown steadily over the last decade. In Spain, almost 10% of travelers already choose to do so unaccompanied, reflecting a social and tourism transformation that is redefining the way the world is explored.
Traveling alone: a trend that is gaining momentum
On the occasion of Singles’ Day (November 11), Pangea The Travel Store presented a radiography on the rise of solo travel. The results confirm that interest in solo travel has gone from being a minority option to a growing lifestyle.
More than 60% of travelers who sign up for organized trips do so unaccompanied, seeking to share the experience with like-minded people, but without depending on anyone. Javier Meneses, Pangea’s Director of Author Travel, explained that this trend “responds to a social evolution, where travel becomes a tool for personal growth and human connection”.
Women lead the way in solo tourism
According to the report, women travel alone 15% more than men, especially in the 30-45 age range. This profile is looking for safe, flexible and enriching itineraries, where the possibility of choosing without conditioning and connecting with other travelers with similar interests is a priority.
“Traveling alone in a group is a way of experiencing the world with freedom, but without giving up company,” added Meneses. This formula (individual travel within organized groups) balances independence and security, an important point in the growth of this type of tourism.
