Karl and Jesica appeared on the Channel 4 show to find their dream property abroad

Tonight’s A Place in the Sun episode left the host, buyers and viewers in tears during the “emotional” property search. Jasmine Harman helped Jesica and Karl, who live in Manchester, find their ideal holiday home near Cádiz on Spain’s Costa de la Luz.

Jesica, originally from Spain, and her partner Karl hoped their budget of £95,000 would be enough to find an apartment suitable for their whole family to enjoy. They thought it was the right time to invest in a property abroad, honouring their new home in memory of Karl’s son who had passed away.

Karl opened up about the death of his oldest son, as their daughter Sophia had also decided to contribute some money to the property search, which she had received following the loss of her brother. This meant the couple’s budget stretched to £105,000.

Karl and Jessica were impressed by all five properties offered by Jasmine, but immediately fell in love with the third property which was a three-bedroom apartment.

The property was on the market for a negotiable price of just under £108,000. But, the Mancunian property searcher was forced to dry his eyes after he was speechless while looking around the property.

Channel 4 host, Jasmine Harman asked Karl: “Karl are you alright?” She said: “Is it making you feel a bit emotional?” Karl said: “It is a bit yeah, you can never dream [of owning this property] for such a small budget.”

Jesica agreed: “It’s beautiful, I can move in.” Karl was “blown away” by the homely property, as he dreamed about his family and new-born grandchild coming over to stay.

Talking to the camera, Jasmine said: “I was not expecting those reactions.” She added: “Jesica loved it and Karl got emotional.” The Channel 4 host showed the emotional couple an additional two properties, where Karl seemed to break down again.

Jasmine showcased a fifth apartment with a communal pool which was under their budget, before realising that Karl was in tears once again. He said: “I never imagined that our money could afford this, and I think that’s what took my breath away.”

He said to Jasmine: “Have you ever been called a miracle worker before?”, as they went on to make a final decision. Alongside their daughter Sophia, Karl and Jesica could see a future in the fifth property, and wanted to put in an offer.

They started the bid at £84,000, before compromising on a final price of just over £89,500. Jasmine was also emotional, after finding the couple their dream, meaningful holiday home as a way to “remember” Karl’s son.

Viewers took to social media following one of the most emotional episodes of the Channel 4 show. One said: “They’ve had a tough few years”, while another added: “That was emotional.”

More continued to congratulate the couple: “Well done. Happy for them”, “They’re crying, Jas is crying. We’re all crying. Genuinely chuffed for them.” A Place in the Sun is on Channel 4 at 6pm.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
