On October 7, during Madrid’s Hispanic Week celebrations, Visit Buenos Aires focused on the value of the Spanish market for Buenos Aires tourism presenting the first three quarters of the year Buenos Aires tourism statistics and trends. Hechos was honored to host the event designed by Buenos Aires for Spain to be held at the historic Club Monteverdi, located in Madrid’s Parque Monteverdi, and was attended by tourism and business leaders from Buenos Aires as well as Spanish tourism professionals.
Many of the guests were associated with the tourism and business sectors of Buenos Aires which included the Deputy Mayor of Buenos Aires, Ms. Clara Muzzio and Mr. Hernán Lombardi, Minister of Economic Development. Other guests came from the hotel, restaurant, food service, coffee shop and café sectors, which encouraged collaboration on the promotion of tourism. Key statistics further underscore the importance of Spain as a tourism source market for Buenos Aires:
- Spain accounts for 30% of all European visitors to Buenos Aires, ahead of Italy (16%).
- In 2024, the number of Spanish tourists visiting Buenos Aires reached 112,000, representing an 8% increase from the previous year.
- For Spanish travelers, the main motivations for visiting Buenos Aires were to visit family and friends (68%) and for holidays and leisure (24%).
- Air connectivity between Buenos Aires and Spain has also seen substantial growth. Between January and August 2025, there were 3,024 flights between the two countries, representing a 13% increase from the same period in 2024. With around 963,000 seats available and an average occupancy rate of 92%, the demand for travel between Spain and Buenos Aires remains strong.
These figures confirm Buenos Aires as one of the leading long-haul destinations for European travelers, particularly from Spain, emphasizing the city’s appeal for both leisure and family tourism.
