Palamos (Costa Brava, Spain) will once again host the Beach Water Polo Costa Brava, reaching its 8th edition from August 29 to 31 at Platja Gran. This international beach water polo tournament, organized by the BIWPA Academy with the support of the Palamós Town Council, grows this year with a record 54 teams and over 550 participants.

The competition will take place across five courses located along the beachfront, with over 170 matches scheduled over three days. Teams will come from 15 countries, including strong local and Spanish representation, as well as participants from Europe, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.

Saül Sanz, Head of Beach Polo, highlights:
“Seeing this tournament grow year after year is extremely rewarding. This edition, with a significant increase in participants and the addition of a fifth court, reaffirms our commitment to Palamós and the Costa Brava as a top destination for beach water polo.”

Competition and Great Atmosphere

The tournament will kick off on Friday, August 29 with a group stage, followed by the round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals on Saturday, August 30, and the finals on Sunday, August 31. The main goal of the Beach Water Polo is to foster cohesion and camaraderie among participants while providing an exciting show for spectators. With two 10-minute halves on reduced-size courts, the tournament features five simultaneous matches every half hour, allowing dynamic viewing from the beach.

All-Star Game and Tribute to Felipe Perrone

The traditional All-Star Game will take place on Saturday at 6 PM, featuring one selected player from each team competing alongside international stars. Felipe Perrone, recently crowned world champion and with a career full of achievements, will be the main attraction and honored for his sporting legacy. International players Martin Famera and Irene Gonzalez from CN Sabadell will also participate.

Closing Party

This year, El Secreto Brewing, a local Costa Brava beer brand, strengthens its role as the main partner of the event. The brand will provide food and beverage service in the tournament village and host a community dinner for all participants on Saturday night at their venue, Es Secret.

The Beach Water Polo Costa Brava is open to the public throughout the competition: Friday 2:30–8:00 PMSaturday 9:30 AM–8:00 PM, and Sunday 10:30 AM–1:30 PM.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
