ITTN is delighted to have the Spanish Tourism Board Return as lead sponsor for the 2025 Irish Travel Trade Awards, taking place on 28th November 2025.

The director of the Spanish Tourism Office in Dublin, Laura Pena shared “We are thrilled to be sponsoring the ‘Sustainability & Culture’ category of the ITTN Awards. We are excited with this category, which is in line with a wider strategic focus to become a more competitive and sustainable tourism destination. Undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable industry nights of the year, it offers a fantastic opportunity to catch up with our valued trade partners in the Irish travel industry and fellow suppliers in a relaxed and fun setting.

About the Spanish Tourism Board

The Spanish Tourism Board (www.spain.info) in Dublin is one of the 33 overseas offices of the Instituto de Turismo de España (TURESPAÑA), which is an autonomous agency under the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, its objectives are to maintain and strengthen Spain’s leadership position as a global tourist destination, as well as to contribute to improving the competitiveness and resilience of the Spanish tourism sector. It also aims to consolidate a tourism model based on economic, social, and environmental sustainability through the efficient management of international tourism demand.

Spain has had a record year for tourism, and Irish tourists visiting Spain in the first 7 months of 2025 are over two million ( 2,441,713 to be exact). Their focus is on attracting Irish visitors to lesser-known parts of Spain, such as inland and northern Spain, as well as de-seasonalising the flow and promoting year-round city breaks.

What’s New with Spain

Turespaña´s new international advertising campaign, “Think You Know Spain? Think Again”, the goal of the campaign is to position Spain as the ideal destination for practising slow travel, a travel style that allows visitors to enjoy the country’s cultural and natural heritage at a more relaxed pace. The aim is to attract tourists who travel outside the peak season to lesser-known or less-visited Spanish destinations, encouraging longer stays that ultimately support the sustainable development of tourism in Spain. All of this contributes to enhancing Spain’s image as a destination committed to responsible tourism.

The Spanish Tourism Office in Dublin presented the first edition of Spain Talks in Ireland on 13th November. The Spain Talks international forum is part of a series of initiatives aimed at positioning Spain as a global leader in sustainability, facilitating the exchange of ideas and collaboration between sector experts and key stakeholders from main source markets. Having been held in countries like the United Kingdom, the USA, and Italy, the forum’s inaugural Irish edition brought together leading voices from Spain and Ireland to share best practices, foster collaboration, and recognise outstanding contributions to responsible tourism.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
