The town hall has unveiled two brand-new selfie points, complete with sturdy mobile stands designed to give visitors, expats and anyone feeling fabulously photogenic the chance to capture their best self without giving up the stunning backdrop. These are the very first selfie points installed anywhere in the Valencian Community – Pego leading the way in style.

The selfie spots have been strategically placed along the urban route, turning them into must-visit stops for anyone wanting the ideal shot framed by some of the town’s most iconic landmarks. According to Tourism Councillor Ricardo Sendra, one point sits proudly in the town square, offering a privileged view of the Church of the Assumption – the beating heart of Pego’s cultural life. The other stands by the Portal de Sala, the last surviving gateway of the three that once welcomed visitors into the town. If walls could talk, this one would have quite the story.
Tech that tells a tale
Both selfie stations come equipped with QR codes that open a dedicated website, offering information about each site, multilingual audio guides, Pego’s social media links, more places worth exploring, a full events calendar and the official tourism webpage. This clever project forms part of Pego’s new Photographic Route, an innovative tourist experience patented and marketed by the Spanish company “TURS take your selfie”. Using geolocation and big data, the system gathers valuable information about visitor flow, including where people come from, how often the spots are used and even seasonal patterns – all key insights for future tourism planning.
