Police have launched an investigation after a British man was found dead in a Costa Blanca holiday resort.
The 50-year-old’s body was discovered between two parked cars in the town of Javea north of Benidorm.
An alert was sounded just before 7.45am on Sunday.
The Civil Guard said this afternoon there were no obvious signs of violence at the scene but insisted they were still awaiting the results of the autopsy.
It is not yet clear if the dead man was a local resident or was holidaying in the area.
Police were sent to the scene after a 999 call went into a regional government-run emergency response centre.
The area was then cordoned off so forensic experts could work in the street where the man’s body was found.
The Civil Guard has yet to make any official comment and is not expected to do so until it has received the post-mortem results, which are unlikely to be made public as is normal in Spain.
