Four people have reportedly been found dead this Tuesday 25 November as a result of a ‘gas escape’ in Torrox, a town on the eastern Costa del Sol in Malaga province.

According to SUR sources, the alarm was raised at around 3.20pm in the afternoon in the El Pontil neighbourhood, located in the historic centre of the municipality.

At the moment, no further details have emerged about the cause ohe incident.

This newspaper has been able to confirm that the deceased are a Moroccan couple in their fifties and their two sons, aged 17 and 19.

Three days of mourning

Torrox town hall has declared three days of mourning for the family. The mayor, Óscar Medina, expressed his deep sorrow, offered his condolences, and extended his sympathies to the families and friends of the victims. He also called on the public to join in the minute of silence scheduled for Wednesday, the 26 November, at 10am in the Plaza de la Constitución, in front of the town hall. From today until Thursday 27 November, flags on municipal buildings will fly at half-mast, and no official events will be held as a sign of respect.
