Flu vaccination campaign begins « Euro Weekly News

The 2025 flu vaccination campaign is now underway across the Costa Blanca, with public health centres leading the effort to protect residents ahead of the winter season.

The Valencian Health Service (GVA) offers free flu jabs at local health centres, where appointments can be booked via the GVA+Salut app or by phone. Some centres are also running walk-in sessions, particularly for people over 60 or those with chronic conditions, to make access as easy as possible.

Local councils are supporting the campaign with community vaccination days and mobile units in town squares and community centres, ensuring everyone has a convenient opportunity to get protected.

In the first phase of the campaign, vaccination is prioritised for people over 60 and those belonging to risk groups, including individuals with chronic illnesses, immunosuppressed patients, pregnant women, new mothers (up to six months postpartum), carers, and essential service professionals. Once this stage is completed, the vaccine will be available to the rest of the population. The main goal is to reduce infection rates and complications associated with seasonal flu, especially among the most vulnerable groups.

Alongside public services, a wide network of private clinics and authorised pharmacies across the Costa Blanca are also offering the flu jab. The Hospital San Carlos in Denia, designated as an official vaccination centre, will begin administering vaccines on Wednesday October 15.

Those wishing to attend should bring their ID or SIP card; no appointment is necessary, and vaccinations will be available Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 9pm. These private facilities often provide multilingual assistance and flexible hours, making them a practical option for international residents and visitors seeking quick access to vaccination.
