Alan and Jenny Boardman have begun to collect up the donation boxes from the establishments in the Costa del Sol collecting donated glasses and school supplies for their Eyedrop Campaign 2026. In the following months, they will be taking them to Uganda, like they did in early 2025, to give to those in desperate need.
There were enormously emotive scenes as people virtually blind we able to not only to see well again, but read for the first time in many years. And children received the materials they needed to enjoy a full education with pens and pencils and other school material that the generous Costa del Sol community had gathered together. These easy-to-come-by objects, often articles we all have hidden in the back of drawer somewhere, finally found useful homes on another, completely different, continent, radically changing the lives of those less fortunate.
Boardmans are back!
Now, late 2025, the Boardmans are back, with help from a generous community, including businesses and expats and others from the Costa del Sol. Euro Weekly News asked Alan how the collection was going.
“The collection is going great, thank you. We haven’t started counting yet but it looks like people have donated even more than last year! We’re aiming to increase the amount of spectacles, pens and pencils from two and a half to three full-sized suitcases even more full this time by cutting down to the bare bones on the amount of personal clothes we take. One notable difference this year has been the increased involvement and support from the Spanish community, but therein lies another story!”
Hopefully, we will see the final count, as well as more details of Alan and Jenny’s travel plans for the new year with our donations.
