By Salomon opens Finca Victoria, a Mediterranean luxury retreat located in Sa Riera, a picturesque seaside cove in Begur on Spain’s northeastern coast.

Nestled along the renowned Costa Brava, just a couple of hours north of Barcelona, this five-star hotel blends heritage, design, and wellness in a setting defined by rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and turquoise waters.

Located in the picturesque cove of Sa Riera in Begur, this new five-star hotel marks the group’s first foray into the high-end hospitality sector.

A Historic Estate Reimagined

Finca Victoria occupies a historic family estate that has undergone a meticulous €12 million restoration led by GCA Architects, in collaboration with Post Company, Sarita Posadas, and Ingrid Aparicio. The project preserves the estate’s original soul while introducing modern comforts. With management by Majestic Hotel Group and affiliation with Design Hotels by Marriott, the hotel integrates international luxury standards with local charm.

The result is a sanctuary where tradition and modernity merge, offering 38 individually designed rooms—12 of which are luxury suites. Each room emphasizes wellness and design, featuring elements such as outdoor showers, terrace-access sinks, private pools, and breathtaking sea views. The jewel of the estate, the La Torre Suite, offers 360-degree panoramic views from the estate’s original tower and includes a solarium terrace.

Experiences Rooted in Mediterranean Lifestyle

More than just accommodation, Finca Victoria is conceived as a holistic experience. The property includes two gourmet restaurants, a beachfront champagne lounge, a spa, a yoga program, and curated cultural touches that celebrate the soul of the Costa Brava. Guests can indulge in the Listening Room, relax by the pool, or explore the vibrant public areas like the cloister and Cala Bar.

The hotel’s exterior pool is surrounded by sun loungers and shaded areas, creating an ideal setting for adults seeking serenity and privacy. Meanwhile, the full-service spa offers a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, Jacuzzi, massage cabins, and a fully equipped gym. Sunrise yoga classes on the beach provide the perfect start to a wellness-focused day.

Culinary Excellence by Jordi Vilà

Michelin-starred chef Jordi Vilà leads the hotel’s culinary program, which includes two distinct dining spaces. At Al Kostat del Mar, located in the stone archways of the hotel’s cloister, guests enjoy a Catalan menu crafted from seasonal local ingredients. The second venue, Cala Bar, provides lighter fare and cocktails in a casual atmosphere at the heart of the property.

For a seaside indulgence, “La Caseta del Mar” awaits guests at the beachfront, offering fresh oysters, chilled champagne, and watersport services including boat rentals, kayaks, and paddleboards. The curated gastronomic and lifestyle experiences are designed to bring guests closer to the region’s authentic flavors and coastal elegance.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
