Watch out for some belly laughs and titters, dazzling costumes, and traditional panto mayhem, as it’s Panto season once more at the Salón Varietés, Fuengirola.
In little more than a week away, the festive season kicks off for real with what must be the only English-speaking panto anywhere in Costa del Sol. This year’s spectacular production, Jack and the Beanstalk, runs from Friday, December 19, until Tuesday, December 23, and then returns from Friday, January 2, to Monday, January 5. This classic pantomime is the perfect start to the most wonderful time of the year. Nightly performances are at 7.30pm, with Sunday shows at 7pm. Matinees will be held at 2 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and Monday, January 5. (Note: There will be no evening performance on December 20 or January 5.)
Talented cast and crew in classic panto romp
The show features a fantastic cast, including the talented Laura Carter as the leading lady, Jill, and Jacob Botha. However, all eyes will be on the panto dames, especially the highly anticipated performance by John Sharples, who is a major draw for any production with a dame. Sharples will no doubt be “a little bit saucy for the adults”, making sure the show has plenty of appeal for all ages, but perhaps with prices that are “not typical.”
The high-energy show is written by Nigel Holmes, directed by Keith Spitalnick, and choreographed by the wonderful Alexandra Avery. As Director Spitalnick says, it’s not “Behind you!”… it’s coming soon!
This year’s production will be the cherry on the Christmas pud that everyone has been waiting for at the coast’s only English-speaking theatre and will be nothing but pure unadulterated fun.
