Costa del Sol transformed into a playground for the fast, noisy, and elite on Saturday, October 4, as the Concurso de Elegancia Costa del Sol drew over 150 supercars, hypercars, and classic icons to Marbella, Mijas, and Malaga.
Billed as Spain’s most exclusive motorsport event, the three-day spectacle fused high-octane engineering with Costa del Sol glamour and attracted international collectors, designers, and tastemakers.
Launched in 2017, the contest entered a bold new era under the stewardship of Franziska and Gregor Piech, along with the Caven team, making it a global rival to storied gatherings like Pebble Beach and Villa d’Este. Revving up at Marbella’s Magna Golf resort, the inaugural day dazzled with live music, artistic performances, and indulgent munchies of caviar, champagne, and Iberian ham. Dealership Calle de Salamanca Marbella stole the spotlight by presenting a select fleet of ultra-premium rides that speak of Marbella excess.
Adrenaline-fuelled highlights included a private track day at Ascari Circuit, scenic coastal drives, and sunset gastronomic soirees overlooking the Med. The international jury, featuring experts from Bugatti, Pininfarina, and General Motors, judged entries on design, heritage, and innovation, crowning jaw-droppers in multiple categories. Dream machines like the Pagani Huayra, Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari F40, and Porsche Carrera GT turned heads in a mix of raw power and timeless curves.
The event’s Mijas leg boosted its attraction, with around 20 hypercars parading from La Cala de Mijas up to the whitewashed charm of Mijas Pueblo, culminating in a showcase at Plaza Virgen de la Peña.
Backed by local authorities in Marbella, Mijas, and Malaga, the contest closed with a charitable gala dinner, channelling proceeds to community causes. As engines roared into the sunset, the Concurso de Elegancia was a visual feast, a charitable success and a reaffirmation of the Costa del Sol brand.
