On the Western Costa del Sol, in Sabinillas, Manilva, the Love to Sing Choir has become a well loved local fixture since its founding in 2017-2018. Led by the accomplished musical director Shirley Helleur (BA LTCL), this international mixed community choir brings together singers from diverse backgrounds who share one common passion: the joy of music.

Rehearsing every Wednesday evening, the choir performs an eclectic repertoire spanning pop, musicals, classical, rock, and more, making sure there’s truly something for everyone. No auditions are required, and the ability to read music is a bonus but not essential. For both seasoned vocalists and enthusiastic beginners, all are welcomed with open arms, provided they commit to weekly sessions and year-round performances.

What makes Love to Sing so special is its profound community spirit and charitable impact. Over the years, the group, now nearly 60 strong, has raised thousands of euros for local causes, including cancer care (Cudeca and AECC), mental health support (Afesol), dementia initiatives, children’s Christmas appeals (St George’s and Hogar Betania), and aid for underprivileged families. Recent highlights include festive concerts in 2025 supporting the Manilva anti-dementia group and Cudeca hospice, and also summer fundraisers that have collectively amassed large donations.

Apart from the stage, the choir fosters creates friendships through fun social events, trips, and gatherings for members and their partners. It’s not only singing, it’s a welcoming haven for expats and locals, combating isolation while spreading harmony.

As the choir calls for new voices ahead of 2026, it’s clear: Love to Sing is a wonderful social group for anyone who loves to sing on the Western Costa del Sol. Contact Maggie at +34 628 16 39 77 or lovetosingchoirmanilva@gmail.com to join this uplifting community.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
