Eight police officers have been suspended after allegations of misbehaviour during a holiday to Spain.

A sergeant, six Pcs and a special constable with Durham Constabulary based in Chester-le-Street were suspended in October, the force said.

The force’s Professional Standards Department is investigating allegations that they failed to uphold standards of professional behaviour while they were off-duty.

A force spokeswoman said: “The investigation is ongoing and all eight remain under suspension.”

According to a report in The Northern Echo, the investigation relates to alleged misbehaviour on a trip to Spain and involves an inappropriate tattoo.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
