The unique Spanish monthly public transport ticket is now on sale at €60, ahead of its implementation on Monday, January 19.
Ticket-holders will be able to travel unlimited times with Rodalies commuter trains, the medium-distance rail network, and interregional buses owned by the Spanish state.
The Avant service between Barcelona and Tortosa is included, while AVE trains and Avant between Barcelona and Tarragona are not.
Daniel Gil, from Tortosa in the south of Catalonia, welcomed the measure, saying it will encourage more people to use the train. “It will be a huge financial benefit,” he told the Catalan News Agency (ACN).
For the last decade, he has been traveling to Barcelona by train to work as a librarian.
“Until two years ago, it was five days a week, but now I work remotely one of those, I have always preferred the train rather than the bus,” he told ACN.
“It is just a decision based on my principles, I travel better and comfortably, but also for the environment, as the train is the public transport for excellence,” he added.
He will start using the public transport ticket from Monday, as, based on his estimations, it will save him €47, down from the €107 he currently pays.

Transport users aged 26 years or younger can get a 50% reduction on the €60 ticket price after registering at the Spanish transport ministry.
Barcelona’s Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) tickets already combine local bus, metro, Rodalies and FGC commuter trains, and TRAM. One person can use the same ticket for all these modes of transport.
However, the ticket does not allow travel on Renfe’s medium-distance trains or high-speed trains. It does not include long-distance bus trips.
The new ticket will “combine” with the current ATMs across Catalonia, aside from Barcelona’s, there are also ATMs in Lleida, Girona, and Tarragona, as confirmed by the Catalan territory ministry.
The Catalan government is working to ensure compatibility between the two systems from the second semester of 2026. This way, it will be possible to access trains and buses, such as the T-Mobilitat already does.
Almost a year ago, transport minister Óscar Puente announced the plans to establish a system that would include several transport options.
