MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman is set to participate in the FITUR 2026 International Tourism Fair, which opens next Wednesday in Madrid. This involvement reflects Oman’s commitment to expanding its global presence and fostering sustainable tourism partnerships.
The fair will spotlight emerging trends, innovative technologies, and sustainable tourism models that are shaping the industry worldwide. Oman’s pavilion will showcase the participation of various tourism institutions, hospitality companies, hotels, and key sector partners.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism aims to highlight Oman’s diverse tourism offerings, introduce new destinations and products, and engage with Spanish and international tour operators to increase visitor numbers. The event will also serve as a platform for launching new partnerships and promotional initiatives with global stakeholders.
Haitham bin Mohammed al Ghassani, Official Spokesperson for the Ministry and Director General of Tourism Promotion, emphasized that Oman’s presence at FITUR supports the nation’s ongoing efforts to diversify its tourism products, harness international expertise, and enhance the global competitiveness of the sector.
He added that the exhibition offers valuable insights into innovative tourism technologies and detailed market analyses provided by international tourism communication firms, which will assist Oman in effectively targeting priority source markets.
Spain remains a key source market for Oman, with approximately 10,749 Spanish visitors recorded from January to November 2025. Additionally, Madrid’s status as a major aviation hub—handling 16.5 percent of global air traffic connections—positions Spanish tour operators as crucial gateways for Latin American tourists traveling to the Middle East. — ONA
