COLUMBUS, Ohio — Many school districts across central Ohio are canceling or delaying classes on Tuesday due to extreme cold temperatures.
Wind chills are expected to be as low as -15 degrees on Tuesday morning.
Students at Columbus City Schools will not have class on Tuesday due to an already scheduled day off for Professional Development Day. Students also won’t be in class Wednesday for Records Day.
Some of the schools that have announced closures or delays for Tuesday include:
- Big Walnut Local Schools – CLOSED
- Coshocton City Schools- CLOSED
- Delaware City Schools – CLOSED
- Franklin Local Schools – CLOSED
- Johnstown-Monroe Local Schools – CLOSED
- Marysville Schools – 2-hour delay
- Newark City Schools – CLOSED
- Olentangy Local Schools – CLOSED
- Southwest Licking Local Schools – CLOSED
- Whitehall City Schools – CLOSED
- Zanesville City Schools – 2-hour delay

Actual temperatures are forecasted to drop as low as 5 degrees on Monday night.
By Tuesday morning, air temperatures will be well into the single digits. When combined with the winds across the region, feel-like temperatures will plunge into the -5 to -15 degree range for early Tuesday.
Due to this dangerously cold air, a 10TV Weather Impact Alert Day has been issued starting Monday morning and continuing through Tuesday morning. This is now backed up by a Cold Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service for the same timeframe.
