Global tourism fairs are increasingly looking beyond destinations to the stories that bring places alive on screen — and FITUR Screen 2026 is leaning firmly into that shift by deepening Spain’s audiovisual alliance with India.
Organised by FITUR (Feria Internacional de Turismo) in collaboration with the Spain Film Commission, the eighth edition of FITUR Screen will take place from 21–23 January 2026 in Hall 10 of IFEMA MADRID, bringing together tourism and audiovisual professionals, film commissions, and film offices from across the world.
Spain–India focus shapes 2026 agenda
FITUR Screen 2026 will revolve around the launch of the Spain–India Dual Year of Culture, Tourism and Artificial Intelligence, positioning audiovisual collaboration as a key bridge between the two countries. The programme will promote academic and professional engagement with India’s film industry, one of the world’s largest and most influential markets.
Institutional participation will include Jayant N. Khobragade, Ambassador of India to Spain, alongside senior representatives from Spain’s ministries of Industry and Tourism, Culture, and Digital Transformation. The event will also welcome Rishabh Chopra, Honorary Ambassador of the Spain Film Commission and Head of Production at Yash Raj Films, whose productions have prominently featured Spanish locations.
Recognition for Spain–India audiovisual collaboration
As part of the programme, the Spain Film Commission will present the SFC Global Visionaires Awards to Yash Raj Films and Atresmedia Creaciones, recognising their contribution to strengthening audiovisual collaboration between Spain and India and expanding Spain’s visibility as a filming destination.
Experiences Programme and new screen tourism award
A major highlight of this year’s edition is the Experiences Programme, a strategic initiative of the Spain Film Commission supported by the State Secretariat for Tourism. The programme focuses on developing innovative and sustainable tourism products rooted in audiovisual locations, demonstrating how filming can translate into long-term destination value.
For the first time, FITUR Screen will also introduce the Award for Best Screen Tourism Experience, honouring initiatives that combine creativity, sustainability, and innovation. This new category will be presented alongside the established awards for Best Production and Spain Film Commission Ambassador of the Year.
Expanding international participation
FITUR Screen 2026 will feature participation from Brazil, Morelia (Mexico), and Madhya Pradesh (India), reinforcing its role as a global meeting point for screen tourism. A strong presence from Spain’s regional and local film commissions will further underline the depth and diversity of the country’s audiovisual ecosystem.
With the Spain Film Commission marking its 25th anniversary in 2026, FITUR Screen continues to consolidate Spain’s position as a highly professional, competitive, and internationally connected filming hub, where tourism and storytelling increasingly move in tandem.
