Javea’s Granadella Trail returns for its 2026 edition, and with racers fighting for victory across more than fifteen categories, it promises to be the most exciting edition yet.
Sprint Trail trail kicks off on 31 January
January 31st will see the Sprint Trail contested. Racers will run a 14-kilometre circular route, departing from Pinosol Park at 9.30am. There have been no changes to the route since 2025’s edition, giving experienced runners a possible advantage. The Sprint Trail is open to both federated and non-federated athletes, with strict time limits in place to ensure safety and fair competition.
Minitrail and youth participation
Kids will get a chance to compete too as a Minitrail will take place later in the afternoon. From 4.00pm, young competitors can burn off some energy in age-appropriate races within the park. All minors must present a parental or guardian authorisation to participate on the day of the event.
Short Trail and Half Marathon on Sunday
The race continues into Sunday 1st February, beginning with the 5.5-kilometre Short Trail at 9.00am. This linear race departs from Cala Granadella and finishes at Pinosol Park. Competitors as young as 15 years old can enter this category.
Finally, the 2026 Granadella Trail will conclude with the most intense competition: the Half Marathon. Pinosol Park will again serve as the starting line where racers will set off on their 21-kilometre run. Both the Short Trail and the Half Marathon are scheduled to begin at 9.00am.
Safety is a priority
Organisers have also confirmed that all participants must carry the mandatory safety equipment specified in the race regulations, including appropriate trail footwear and hydration. Aid stations will be positioned along the routes, and medical support will be available throughout the event.
Runners are reminded that respect for the natural environment of the Granadella area is a key principle of the race, with penalties in place for littering or leaving marked trails.
Awards and logistics
The top three male and female finishers in each category will be presented with trophies at an awards ceremony taking place at 12.30pm on Saturday and 1.15pm on Sunday respectively. Participants are advised to collect their race numbers in advance to avoid delays, with collection available from Parque Pinosol the day before and on race mornings.
