The cultural and sculptural project of Teulada Town Hall is entering its final stage ahead of its grand debut. The initiative will be launched on Saturday October 18 at the Auditori Teulada Moraira with the official opening of the monumental sculpture route.
The proposal, under the title Teulada Moraira, City of Culture and Sculpture, aims to establish the municipality as a national and international benchmark in contemporary art. The route, connecting the two urban centres, will feature seven monumental sculptures by renowned artists, alongside the emblematic Salt Giant, already installed on the esplanade of Moraira Castle and owned by the council.
The works will be distributed across key areas of the municipality, blending into streets, squares and emblematic corners. Each piece will include a QR code, giving visitors access to detailed information about the artist, the meaning of the work and its context, offering an interactive experience that combines art, culture and heritage at the heart of the Costa Blanca.
An open dialogue
Councillor for Culture, Verónica Martínez, highlighted during the presentation that “this project was born with the vocation of placing Teulada Moraira on the cultural map, not only of the Valencian Community but also nationally and internationally. The sculpture route is an open dialogue between contemporary art and our urban heritage, designed so that both residents and visitors can experience culture first-hand, creating an open-air museum.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Raúl Llobell underlined that “Teulada Moraira, City of Culture and Sculpture is a clear example of how Teulada Moraira is transformed into a living space where monumental art not only beautifies but also strengthens cultural tourism in our municipality, boosting our economy while always preserving our local identity.” He added that “the inauguration on October 18 will be a historic moment for our municipality, a day when this sculpture route will be revealed for the first time, marking a before and after for Teulada Moraira.”
The opening event will take place on Saturday October 18, 2025, at 12pm in the Auditori Teulada Moraira, where a temporary exhibition linked to the project will also be on display. With this initiative, the municipality seeks to consolidate itself as a leading cultural destination, fusing monumental art with the Mediterranean beauty of its surroundings.
