A BRITISH man who was shot multiple times in an assassination attempt gone wrong in Spain has been named for the first time.
Sonny Redmond, 32, survived after someone fired more than a dozen bullets at him in a car park in Orihuela Costa, north of Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca.
Redmond reportedly sustained gunshot wounds to his arm, leg, and chest.
Despite his horrific injuries, he still managed to raise the alarm by alerting a neighbour once the gunman fled.
The brutal attack took place around 10pm on December 11 in an underground car park in the residential area.
Photos shared on social media and in the Spanish press show the front windscreen of Redmond’s car riddled with bullet holes.

He was rushed to Torrevieja University hospital for emergency surgery and remains in serious condition in the intensive care unit.
Redmond had previously been identified as one of two British men arrested over an armed robbery at a cannabis club in San Fulgencio last year.
He is believed to have been released on bail in November, seven months after his arrest.
Reports at the time suggest Redmond and his 33-year-old accomplice broke into the club allegedly brandishing machine guns, making off with €5,000 worth of products.
They then demanded a lump sum of €25,000 and 50 per cent of future earnings.
The pair threatened the club’s owner and his family if he did not comply.
When officers eventually tracked Redmond down, “he resisted arrest and managed to enter the home of an elderly couple he took hostage during his attempts to escape”.
Little is known about how long Redmond has lived in Spain, though he is originally from Bootle, Merseyside.
In the mid-2010s, he was issued with a gang injunction over suspected involvement in organised crime in south Sefton.
He later appeared on Merseyside Police’s most-wanted list for breaching the injunction and failing to appear in court over alleged drug offences.
Spanish media reports suggest the latest shooting may be connected to the murder of a 29-year-old British man on December 21.
A body was found at a housing development in Alicante, also with multiple gunshot wounds.
A source told the Liverpool Echo the attacks are linked to British and Irish organised drug gangs operating in the area.
This December shooting follows a series of similar incidents in southern Spain earlier this year, all thought to have ties to Merseyside.
Bootle-born Steven Gray, 32, was shot “in the back” in the holiday resort of Calahonda on Easter Monday.
Later, Scottish gangsters Eddie Lyons Jr and Ross Monaghan were shot in Fuengirola on May 31 while watching a football match.
Southern Spain has earned the nickname the “Costa del Crime” due to the concentration of organised crime syndicates.
These drug gangs use the sunny coastline as a base for their operations.
