British tourists were left in shock as a fatal fight unravelled just moments after a group of illegal migrants arrived in Spain. A 32-year-old holidaymaker from Twickenham said he saw a group of 10-15 asylum seekers land on the beach while he was drinking coffee in his apartment. Immediately after, the men made a dash for a hotel resort, and ran through the courtyard of the Playavera Hotel in Almeria.

While attempting to reach the other side of the building, a deadly brawl broke out amongst the group, leading to one man being killed. The Brit explained how, before they entered the hotel, the migrants received a mobile phone and money from a ‘handler’. The hotel visitor said while he did not see the fight, he claimed to have heard a man screaming for help while banging on his window.

The tourist rushed down from his balcony to the reception area of the hotel where he reportedly saw the dead body of a migrant. The 32-year-old said there was a bloodied towel on top of him.

According to the Brit, the Spanish police told him that the deceased man had been “beaten to death” by the other migrants who wanted to take his new phone and money.

He added that the man’s body was left for more than seven hours before being collected.

“We still had two days left of the holiday, and for those two days I barely left the room,” he told the Mail.

“I just thought one of them has literally killed one of their own, what could they do to a couple of Britons who were there on holiday?

“His body was literally on the pavement in the hotel, as you leave through one of the hotel gates.

“The national police were there, smoking a cigarette and waiting for the coroner to come.”

The tourist explained that, during previous visits, he had seen a number of strangers coming off the streets and into the hotel. This has led to security guards reportedly walking around “checking if people were wearing wrist bands”.

“There’s a gate at the back where the property meets the beach, and that’s usually left open, so people can literally just walk in and out as they please,” he added.

In the first six months of this year, mainland Spain has seen 4,587 illegal migrants arrive by boat.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
