Mijas is once again preparing to welcome the festive season with its beloved Christmas Market, returning for the third consecutive year to the picturesque Plaza de la Constitución. The market, organised by the Town Hall’s Public Works Department, promises a warm and festive atmosphere, bringing together local artisans, traders, and visitors from near and far.

This year, the market will open its doors on November 28 and remain a festive hub until January 5, welcoming visitors daily from 11:00 to 19:00. In total, nine charming cabins will showcase the talents of Mijas’ local artisans and traders, offering a delightful mix of handcrafted gifts, seasonal treats, and unique items that capture the spirit of Christmas. In addition, two stalls will be operated by local charitable organisations, Piache and AFA Mijas, adding a generous touch of community spirit to the market.

Councillor for Public Works, Melisa Ceballos, who announced the market alongside some of this year’s participating traders, highlighted its significance. “We have worked closely with our local artisans and merchants to create a special space where residents and visitors alike can enjoy high-quality crafts and gastronomy while celebrating the festive season,” she said. “It’s an opportunity not just to shop, but to support our community and showcase the talent that makes Mijas so special.”

The Christmas Market has quickly become more than just a place to buy gifts – it’s a festive gathering point. Visitors can wander between the cabins, savour traditional foods, discover one-of-a-kind handcrafted items, and soak up the joyful atmosphere that transforms the Plaza de la Constitución into a winter wonderland.

For many, it’s also a chance to combine shopping with community spirit, knowing that part of the market’s proceeds support local charitable causes. Whether hunting for unique presents, enjoying festive treats, or simply soaking up the seasonal cheer, the Mijas Christmas Market offers something for everyone.

With its central location, beautifully decorated cabins, and a carefully curated mix of local talent, this festive market is set to become a highlight of Mijas’ holiday calendar, inviting residents and visitors to celebrate Christmas in style.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
