Luck has smiled on the Marina Alta after a fourth prize in Spain’s Christmas Lottery landed in Moraira and Pedreguer. Both towns sold tickets for number 25,508, worth €200,000 per series, but Moraira was the biggest winner after distributing 1,100 décimos, amounting to around €22 million.

The lucky décimos were sold at the El Fortí lottery office on the Moraira–Calpe road (number 5) and at L’Àngel de la Sort, located at Calle Mayor 17 in Pedreguer. Residents and visitors alike joined in the celebrations as news of the prize spread.

Spain celebrates a Christmas draw worth €2.77 billion

The Christmas Lottery once again shared huge sums nationwide, with a total prize fund of €2.772 billion. This year’s El Gordo went to number 79,432, paying €400,000 per décimo, mainly sold in León province and Madrid. The second prize (70,048) awarded €125,000 per décimo, while the third (90,693) paid €50,000. Two fourth prizes, including 25,508, paid €20,000 per décimo, alongside eight fifth prizes of €6,000 each.

A musical group celebrates 37 years of loyalty to the same number

A particularly emotional moment was enjoyed by members of the Teulada Musical Band, who had played the same number, 25,508, for 37 consecutive years. Their perseverance finally paid off, allowing them to celebrate in the street with music, alongside Mila Caselles, owner of the lottery office near Moraira.

Lottery office owner shares joy after distributing over €21 million

Caselles explained that she sold 1,100 décimos, totalling more than €21 million. Many went to the band, while others were sold over the counter or exchanged with offices in Benidorm and Pedreguer. She described herself as “extremely happy”, recalling that the office had also shared part of the Christmas jackpot back in 2019.

Retired hospital worker spreads €7.5 million of third prize in Alicante

Elsewhere in the province, José Luis Aguado, a retired hospital worker from Sant Joan, shared €7.5 million of the third prize after distributing number 90,693 among former colleagues at the hospital. He had continued his long-standing tradition of buying décimos for staff even after retirement.

Celebrations at Playa de San Juan lottery office

Most of the winning tickets were shared among orderlies and assistants, with a few reaching Madrid. José Luis, who kept one winning décimo for himself, joked that those who played would be happier than those who did not. The Playa de San Juan lottery office celebrated its first major prize since changing ownership in 2021, rounding off another memorable Christmas Lottery draw.
