The Costa del Sol is all prepared to pulse with flamenco and salsa rhythms this weekend as the Polish community hosts the 34th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP).  This yearly event has grown into one of the biggest, most cherished and most important for the Polish community around the world and has raised millions for charitable causes, including paying for medical equipment and medical programmes, at the same time as bringing communities together in a day of international joy.

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, everyone, not just Poles, is invited to join a day of music, auctions, and family fun at La Caseta de CEPyME in the Recinto Ferial, all in support of Polish public healthcare. Organised by Agnes Inversiones, the event kicks off at 1pm, promising a combination of cultural celebration and charitable giving that has become a much-loved tradition for the Costa del Sol‘s Polish diaspora.

From small Polish fundraiser to global phenomena

Founded by charismatic activist Jurek Owsiak in 1993, WOŚP has grown from a modest fundraiser into a global phenomenon, raising millions to save lives. What began with a rock ‘n’ roll concert in New York has expanded to over 90 international collection centres, reaching as far as Australia, Indonesia, and even the Polish Antarctic Station. Last year’s event alone collected nearly 289 million Polish zloty (about €67 million), funding everything from neonatal incubators to advanced diagnostic tools through charity.

Here in Fuengirola, the initiative resonates deeply with the Polish ex-pat community, turning the Grand Finale into a lively showcase of heritage and hospitality. “It’s more than fundraising; it’s about building connections and sharing Polish culture,” says Owsiak in the foundation’s guide, echoing the motto “Let’s get to know each other!” Over 33 years, WOŚP has touched Poles of all ages through nationwide programmes, and this local edition embodies that spirit by inviting everyone to participate.

Fun run, Polish cuisine, games, music & charity auctions

The day’s programme starts early at 11am with a symbolic 34-kilometre run (or walk)—open to all fitness levels—to mark the 34th Finale, with finishers expected around 3.30pm to 4pm. From 1pm, a Polish buffet opens, offering traditional treats like pierogi and bigos. Kids can enjoy folk games at 2pm, while a photo booth runs from 2 until 8pm for all those red carpet snaps. Entertainment ramps up with the Fuengirola Gospel Choir at 3pm, followed by auctions at 3.30pm. Fans of Magic won’t want to miss Mago Mota’s show at 4pm, then more auctions at 5pm.

The energy peaks in the evening: Zumba with Ewa Podwysocka at 5.15pm, salsa and bachata lessons by Edison Castro at 6.15pm (along with auctions), and the first part of the POP FM concert at 7pm. Auctions continue at 7.30pm, leading to the iconic “Light to the Sky” fireworks at 8pm — a WOŚP hallmark symbolising hope for the coming year. The night wraps with the concert’s second act at 8.15pm.

Auction bidding is already underway for exclusive items, including a golf round with entrepreneur Rafał Brzoska at the prestigious Old Course La Zagaleta, a tennis ball signed by star Hubert Hurkacz, a sweatshirt and book autographed by hockey legend Mariusz Czerkawski, and DVDs with signatures from comedy troupe Kabaret Smile. These auctions show the event’s global appeal, drawing support from celebrities and enthusiasts who want to get involved and be part of the celebration.

Entire community joins Fuengirola’s Poles for unforgettable day

As Owsiak reminds us, “Helping is child’s play!” Whether you’re Polish, a local Spaniard, or a curious expat escaping January chills, this Finale offers a perfect way to engage in your local community with everyone welcome. Funds go directly to equipping Polish hospitals, with deliveries happening daily. Join the fun! Fuengirola’s Polish hearts beat stronger with everyone together.

The Fuengirola Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is proudly supported by Hola Polacos, a magazine dedicated to connecting the Polish community on the Costa del Sol. Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
