Luuk de Jong stated he is “devastated” by the partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, which occurred during the match against Estoril, and he has received strong support from his teammates. “We are together,” wrote William Gomes in the comments on the message posted by the 35-year-old forward. “We will be here for you, my friend,” assured Eustáquio, one of the locker room leaders. “Always together,” added Rodrigo Mora, while Alan Varela assured: “You will come back stronger.”
“Yesterday, I received the terrible news that I suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. I am devastated. After months of hard work and training to return to help the team and this beautiful club, FC Porto, it hurts deeply to be sidelined again. I will face this challenge with everything I have, determined to come back even stronger, both physically and mentally,” can be read on the former PSV player’s Instagram.
De Jong returned in November after physical problems. He has played seven games in the blue and white jersey and scored one goal. It is yet to be decided whether the forward’s recovery process will follow a conservative route or require surgical intervention.
