IN JANUARY, Alicante will again enjoy a production of one of the most iconic and influential musical comedies of the 2000s, performed by talented and passionate artists on a bright Costa Blanca stage. Mamma Mia! The Musical will return to Alicante as part of a successful tour, creating a vibrant spectacle that brings together a heartwarming story of humour, emotion, and energy, perfect for all audiences.

Alicante comes alive with musical magic this winter

From January 22 to February 28, 2026, the Teatro Principal in Alicante will immerse audiences in a trip to a glittering Greek island, where main character Sophie decides to invite three of her mother’s former lovers, in the hopes of discovering who her real father is. Between hilarious situational comedy, tear-jerking emotional moments, and iconic ABBA songs that will remind older audiences of a nostalgic era of music and film, the show has been – and will continue to be – a booming success in Spain, and the Costa Blanca is the next to enjoy this shining theatre spectacle.

A show that has stolen hearts across Spain

Directed by Juan Carlos Fisher, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, and produced by SOM Produce, the production has been recognised with the Musical Theatre Award for Best Choreography and has captivated audiences all across Spain.

Apart from its catchy soundtrack, Mamma Mia! The Musical has been consistently praised by audiences for its colourful stage decoration, dynamic choreography, and feel-good atmosphere, making it an ideal musical theatre experience for first-time audiences. During the production, Alicante’s Teatro Principal will be transformed into a sun-soaked Mediterranean landscape, even in the middle of winter.

Audiences are in for a fast-paced show, memorable moments, joy-filled group numbers, and intimate, emotionally charged scenes. With themes of love, family, and self-discovery, Mamma Mia! continues to be a cult classic, even nearly two decades after its release, and will ensure an evening of entertainment that is as uplifting as it is unforgettable.
