Morocco’s Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi and Spain’s Minister of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with Parliament, Félix Bolaños, signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday in Madrid to modernize bilateral judicial cooperation, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
Inked during the Morocco–Spain 13th High-Level Meeting in Madrid, the memorandum provides for the development of secure and tailored digital platforms to enable the electronic exchange of judicial and extrajudicial documents. It also includes the creation of an electronic system for sending and receiving requests for international judicial cooperation.
The framework establishes a joint working group tasked with examining the technological, legal, and organizational requirements needed to implement these digital exchanges. The group’s work will be structured around legal, organizational, and technological aspects, in line with an action plan to be agreed upon by both Justice Ministries.
Ouahbi and Bolaños highlighted the importance of sharing experience in electronic judicial communication and noted the need to fully integrate technological innovation to deliver justice that is more efficient, faster, and more accessible.
