THE NEW YEAR has come and gone, and as Murcia finally wraps up its holiday festivities and slowly begins to pack up its decorations, residents in the region are already looking ahead to the goals to achieve, new places to visit, and new events to look forward to in 2026. A buzzing hotspot of activity, the Costa Calida is no stranger to events and festivities year-round, and locals and visitors alike will be flocking to the coastline and the charming inland areas to see and experience the year in one of Spain’s most shining regions.

Seasonal spectacles to come to Murcia in 2026

Once the winter chill goes away and temperatures start to rise, spring will bring a variety of cultural and traditional activities in the region of Murcia. Most notably, Semana Santa, or Holy Week, the Festival of Moors and Christians, and the Murcia Tres Culturas international festival are the events many residents of the region are most looking forward to.

Summer, and in particular July, will see a myriad of music festivals, for which Murcia is very well known. The region will host multi-genre blowout festivals, including Rock Imperium n Cartagena, the Fan Futura Fest in Los Alcázares, and the International Mediterranean Folklore Festival in Murcia City.

As is to be expected, gastronomy will also play a huge role in the social scene for Murcia this year. The 2026 calendar is full of gastronomic experiences including the Food Festival Murcia, coming this month on January 23-25, Murcia Foodie Week in spring, and the “La Huertana” Festival in Lorca in November, just to name a few.

Residents of Murcia buzz with excitement for coming year

Overall, residents of Murcia have a lot to look forward to for the exciting year ahead. With new challenges, new records to set, and new experiences to be had, Murcia continues to prove that each new era can be bigger than the last, and its residents and visitors are enjoying every step of the way.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
