Calpe launched on Tuesday December 9 the trial period of its new regulated parking service, managed by Estacionamientos y Servicios SAU with a bid of 575,000 euros. Although the contract officially begins on the same date, the council has introduced a trial phase until December 17 to ensure a smooth transition and allow residents to familiarise themselves with the new system.
The streets included in the blue zone are Corbeta, Ejércitos Españoles, Maestro Serrano, Alemania, Europa, Pintor Sorolla, Valencia, Blasco Ibáñez, Puerto de Santa María, Gabriel Miró, Almendros, Málaga, Santa María, La Pinta, Joan de Gary, La Pau, Madrid, Doctor Fleming, Isaac Peral, Masnou, Ifach/Murillo, Benissa and Centro de Salud.
Expanded orange zone across coastal areas
The orange zone will include the streets Dinamarca, Gran Bretaña, Italia, Europa, Luxemburgo, Benitatxell, Castellón, Isla Formentera, Alfaç del Pi, Teulada, Denia, Xàbia, Gregal, Llevant, Gibraltar, Juan Carlos I, Llebeig, Rosa de los Vientos and the car park in Xàbia street.
A key aspect of the new contract is a significant reduction in parking fees for residents and traders: nearly 50 per cent in the blue zone and 22 per cent in the orange zone. The resident rate in the blue zone falls from 0.40 euros to 0.25 euros per hour, while the orange zone rate decreases from 0.45 euros to 0.35 euros. General tariffs, however, rise to 1.10 euros in the blue zone and 1.45 euros in the orange zone.
Updated time limits and removal of the green zone
The changes aim to ease the cost of regulated parking for local residents. Time limits have also been modified: the blue zone increases from two to three hours, while the orange zone extends from three to six hours.
The former green zone has been eliminated and absorbed into the blue zone. The mixed orange zone has also been removed. As a result, the blue zone will now offer 920 parking spaces and the orange zone 1,135.
New payment options and resident permits
The contract includes the replacement of parking meters that do not yet allow payment by credit card. Payment can also be made using the free ElParking mobile application.
Residents wishing to obtain a permit must visit the provisional office located at La Font street, number 24, or contact the service by telephone on 652 337 597 or by email at oracalpe@eysaservicios.com
Required documents for resident and trader permits
A prior appointment is necessary. To apply for a resident permit, applicants must provide a photocopy of their DNI, residence card or passport, a photocopy of the vehicle registration document, and the most recent receipt for the Calpe Road Tax.
Trader permit applications must include a photocopy of the DNI or CIF for legal entities, proof of registration for the Economic Activities Tax, the establishment’s location, a copy of the opening licence or provisional licence, and an employment contract in the case of salaried workers.
