Don’t stow those umbrellas just yet. After a brief respite, a new storm system, Konrad, is set to give the Costa del Sol another soaking, starting Wednesday evening, March 12.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain, predicting up to 15 litres per square metre in an hour and 40 litres over 12 hours across Malaga city, the Costa del Sol, Guadalhorce Valley, Axarquía, and Ronda.

This Atlantic storm, classified as ‘high-impact,’ will bring not only rain but also strong winds, potentially interrupting the calm weather expected this Wednesday. Aemet forecasts the heaviest downpours from midnight, all through Thursday.

Meteorologists warn that this could mark the start of more disruption, following a series of storms in the past couple of weeks. Residents are advised to prepare for possible localised flooding and wind-related hazards, especially in vulnerable areas.  On the bright side, it should clear up by the weekend.

So, keep your rain gear close to hand and stay updated. Storm Konrad is ready to make landfall on the Costa del Sol.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
