Gandia and Xàtiva have welcomed a delegation of international film professionals seeking fresh locations for future productions, in a visit coordinated by Film Valencia, the provincial body supporting audiovisual projects across Valencia.

A group of ten producers and location managers from Brazil, India and the Arab-world studio MAD Solutions – the largest company dedicated to Arab cinema – toured both municipalities last week as part of an expedition organised by the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE). Their agenda focused on identifying authentic environments, heritage sites and natural landscapes capable of hosting international film and series productions.

Valencian province strengthens its reputation as a filming hub

The initiative forms part of the growing interest in the province of Valencia and the Costa Blanca as a filming hub, an area increasingly recognised for its architectural charm, coastline settings and versatile urban spaces. During their visit, the delegates explored historical centres, cultural sites and a variety of landscapes across Gandia and Xàtiva, gathering material for future location proposals.

Meanwhile, Oliva is preparing to host a new audiovisual production in the end of November. The town will once again become a filming set, this time for En el círculo del asesino, a seven-episode Netflix series produced by Morena Films. The production is already being shot in several locations across the Valencian Community and Madrid, with Oliva scheduled for filming during the second half of November. Around 80 crew members are expected to arrive for the local shoot.

Several emblematic spots will feature prominently in the storyline, including the historic centre, the beachfront, selected restaurants and even a recreation of the Moros i Cristians festivities. Scenes shot in Oliva will contribute to the final climax of the series, which is inspired by a real case and stars Belén Rueda, Gabriela Andrada and Catalina Sopelana.

A coordination meeting took place on recently, gathering representatives of the production company, the councillor for Tourism, Salvador Llopis, and technicians from multiple municipal departments. The council has asked residents for patience throughout the filming period, as temporary traffic restrictions and some public-space occupations will be required. The project has also been facilitated by the Valencia Film Office, the Diputación’s platform supporting film activity across the region.

Tourism deputy Pedro Cuesta underlined the growing prominence of the province on the international stage, stating that these visits “reflect the increasing interest our territory is generating among the audiovisual industry, thanks to the natural and heritage value of our municipalities, as well as the province’s steady consolidation as a film-tourism destination”.

Film Valencia continues to play a key role in promoting the province as a competitive filming location, offering support to municipalities and maintaining a comprehensive digital directory of local sites, companies and services for industry professionals.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
