IN JANUARY, the runners of Santa Pola will be able to kick off the new year in style and participate in the incredible 34th edition of the Villa de Santa Pola International Half Marathon. The event, taking place on Sunday, January 18, is considered one of the four best half marathon events in the whole of Spain and is expected to attract more than 6,000 runners this year, all from different areas of Spain and Europe as a whole.

Santa Pola streets to be packed with athletes and supporters

The event will be an exciting affair, with the streets packed with athletes and their supporting friends and family as they enjoy not only the race, but the various activities planned for the sporting event. In the days leading up to the event, crowds will be able to peruse the Runner’s Fair, located in the tent near the Castle Fortress and open on Friday, January 16 and Saturday, January 17. Additionally, on January 17, there will be a Santa Pola Mini Marathon, celebrating its 21st edition. This Mini Marathon, which will also attract a number of talented athletes, is set to begin at 5:00pm.

Finally, on Sunday, January 18, the main event will kick off, with the official Half Marathon at 10:30am and starting on the Avenida Pérez Ojeda and passing through the idyllic town of Santa Pola, including past its breathtaking 16th-century castle-fortress.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
