Fuengirola on Saturday, January 10, will have the liveliest nightlife, spilling out onto the streets outside of the Groove bar with the explosive local heroes Skafeinados delivering an infectious setlist of ska and reggae that will sound out across the coastline.

At 10pm, the six-piece tribute band will deliver their signature high-energy mix of British 2 Tone ska, reggae, and rocksteady classics in the tiny venue. No one can resist the beats of Skafeinados’ versions of classic anthems from The Specials, Madness, Bad Manners, UB40, and The Beat, all delivered with nods to Bob Marley and mod icons like The Kinks and The Who.

Known for their dance vibes and “Mentally Ska’d” party atmosphere, Skafeinados have long been a staple of the Costa del Sol scene, packing venues with a multinational following.

According to band member José Huelga, the group originated a long time ago with an English singer who assembled the band, selected the repertoire, and shaped its focus on classic British 2 Tone acts together with Jamaican influences and mod-era tracks.

Love of ska and Two-Tone

When the singer had to return to the UK, the remaining members, primarily local musicians who shared a passion for ska, reggae, and Jamaican music, decided to carry on with the same setlist and style. Skafeinados then built a lasting presence, becoming a fixture in the nightlife of Fuengirola and Mijas over many years.

Skafeinados’ return is tipped to be the biggest event of the week along the coast. If you’re looking for a lively night out, this gig promises non-stop fun in one of Fuengirola’s most scenic locations.

Arrive early if you want to find a place inside Groove Bar, as this will fill out and overflow onto the terrace. – With free admission and the band’s reputation for getting everyone moving, The Groove Bar is sure to be rammed. Dust off your dancing shoes and head to Puerto Deportivo Fuengirola this Saturday for what could be the highlight of your winter on the Costa del Sol.

Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. The weather, the food, people and way of life make it a great place to visit.
