In a corner of Catalonia where pine forests tumble into turquoise coves, Finca Victoria captures the quiet allure of slow Mediterranean living. Perched on a hill overlooking the Medes Islands, this retreat in Begur transforms a 1960s private home into a contemporary sanctuary defined by design and familial hospitality. Once a gathering place for artists and dreamers, the finca has been lovingly restored by two Catalan families led by matriarch Victoria, preserving its soul while introducing refined modern comforts.
Finca Victoria’s transformation is a story of balance between history and innovation, intimacy and sophistication. The meticulous restoration, led by GCA Architects, retained architectural features such as the original staircase, wood-panelled ceilings, and banisters, while layering in natural materials and handcrafted detail.
The interior design, shaped by brothers Harry and Toni Serra in collaboration with Post Company and Sarita Posadas, draws inspiration from Catalonia’s coastal masías. Stucco walls, toba catalana ceramic floors, and custom furniture by regional artisans create a palette of earth and sea, where craftsmanship and authenticity are celebrated at every turn.
Each of the 38 guestrooms, including 10 suites, tells its own story of Mediterranean ease. Soft light filters through linen curtains, wood and ceramic textures evoke the coastal landscape, and every element feels designed for calm. The Privilege Terrace Suite offers a private solarium and outdoor shower with sea views, while the Suite Pool invites secluded relaxation with its plunge pool. At the pinnacle, Suite La Torre sits across three levels within the home’s original tower, offering 360-degree views of the coastline. In every room, white ceramic bathrooms and warm wooden accents reference the Menorquina barcos once built along the Catalan shore, complemented by artworks from local creatives.
Dining at Finca Victoria is as much about connection as it is about cuisine. Within the cloistered heart of the property lies Al Kostat del Mar, a fine-dining restaurant led by Michelin-starred chef Jordi Vilà. His menu pays homage to Catalan flavours through open-fire cooking, grilled seafood, and local produce prepared with precision and spontaneity. Dishes are designed for sharing an echo of the long, convivial meals that have always defined the Mediterranean spirit. For lighter moments, Finca Kitchen & Bar serves oysters, freshly made pastas, and Bloody Marys beside the lounge’s fireplace or under the night sky in the cloister garden.
While away hours beside the original pool, surrounded by bespoke loungers and shaded sofas, or retreat to the wellness area for restorative treatments, a sauna session, or a quiet swim in the Jacuzzi. The nearby La Caseta del Mar, the hotel’s private beach club, offers champagne, oysters, and panoramic views of the Costa Brava a secluded corner where time slows and the sea becomes the soundtrack to the day.
