The ranking was based off each countries suitability for holiday home purchases, taking into consideration affordability, accessibility and current tax rates. The “Vacation Score” also analysed the type of lifestyle each country had to offer, considering safety and security, cultural and natural resources and environmental sustainability.
Spain’s Lifestyle & Environment score sits at 76.7/100, bolstered by 50 UNESCO World Heritage sites, world-renowned cuisine, and the famously relaxed Mediterranean way of life.
Another key factor is Accessibility & Infrastructure which scored a whopping 83.0/100. The country boasts 48 airports (41 of them international), excellent high-speed rail links, and a robust tourism network that makes travelling around Spain effortless and enjoyable. It’s easy to see why Spain wins by a landslide.
