Free family theatre brings fantasy and music to Murcia year’s end.

THE CITY of Murcia will see a special programme of performances to bring a close to 2025 and welcome 2026 on a good note, with sparkling local talent and a variety of works to charm audiences. On December 26 and through to the beginning days of January, the Ramón Gaya Museum in Murcia will become a cultural hub of activity and talent, from whimsical musical numbers to hilarious acting performances.
A spectacular programme of festive productions, featuring local Costa Calida talent
On Friday, December 26, the museum will put on a production of Wonka and His Chocolate Factory, which follows the origin of Willy Wonka, the famed and whimsical chocolatier, and his journey to becoming the most famous confectioner in the world, in a fantastical and sweet story full of songs and surprises. Following it, on Saturday, December 27, The Land of Dreams introduces Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, a magical creature who watches over rest and helps overcome nightmares through a story full of music, fantasy, and interaction.
The programme will continue into January, when the Ramón Gaya Museum will host the musical The Tales of the Elves, a musical and storytelling performance filled to the brim with magic and fantasy. In it, an elf narrates the story and compels the audience to enter the world of an enchanted forest through songs, melodies, and captivating stories. Children will especially love the production, as they discover lessons about friendship, courage, and dreams in an engaging, interactive, and poetic show that sparks the imagination and transforms each story into a small musical adventure. This spectacle will take place on Saturday, January 3.
Finally, the festive programme will close out with The Steadfast Tin Soldier, a musical storytelling work that interweaves narration with live songs and lovable characters. In this work, a little tin soldier compels the audience as he braves his impossible love for a delicate ballerina in a production that celebrates imagination, friendship, and the power of dreams.

The Ramón Gaya Museum is located at Plaza Santa Catalina, Murcia. There will be free entry until the theatre is full to its capacity, and each show will last anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes. All storytelling sessions are designed as a family activity and accessible to all ages, so families and residents of Murcia are not advised to wait to make their way to the museum and see these shining works, which are sure to be the highlight of the new year.
