IN THE final days of January and through February, the cultural, musical, and social hub of Torrevieja is kicking off one of the biggest events of the season on the Costa Blanca: the spectacular Torrevieja Carnaval, its beginning marked by the traditional Pregón, or opening ceremony. Torrevieja’s Carnaval is a dazzling event in which dozens of bright, colourful carnival groups parade through the heart of town, resulting in a merrymaking crowd of thousands.
A vibrant Carnaval on the Costa
Torrevieja’s Carnaval is one of the essential and emblematic festivals of the town, bringing passion, rhythm, and vibrancy to the streets of Costa Blanca South’s famed salt city. The festival is extremely important not only just to Torrevieja and the Costa Blanca, but to the whole of Valencia, being declared an event of Provincial Tourist Interest in 2012 and a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest in 2021 by Valencian officials. The event has become a marker of the new year in Torrevieja, and has become essential to the identity of the town, helping to establish its status as a cultural hub on the Costa.
A month-long party featuring some of Torrevieja’s most talented performers
Characterised by grand coronations, dazzling drag shows, festive parties, dance competitions that will leave crowds’ mouths agape, and over-the-top costumes glittering under the lights, Torrevieja’s Carnaval event is second to none on the Costa when it comes to carnival magic.
Described as a unique, special, and magical event, the Torrevieja Carnaval involves music, dancing, parades, performances, food, and much more. Additionally, Torrevieja residents can participate in contests, showing off their dancing skills to the adoring public.
The Pregón will kick off on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Torrevieja Municipal Theatre. Interested visitors can get their tickets to the show for €5 at the box office. The event will run from January 30 to February 21, and will attract thousands of residents, neighbours, and tourists to the bright and sandy shores of the coastal town, to celebrate this stupefying spectacle on the sublime Costa Blanca together.
