Irish people planning to travel to southern Spain are being advised to check local conditions and plan ahead.

It comes after extreme weather hit parts of Malaga and the Costa del Sol.

Spain’s state weather agency has now stood down its highest-level red warning, which had been issued.

The severe weather caused road closures, flight diversions and dozens of emergency incidents, particularly in the Málaga province.
