No sooner than the Christmas feasts are over, then the New Year’s celebrations are upon us. With hundreds of indoor venues long since booked up, many will be taking to the streets to cheer in 2025. If you live in the Costa del Sol area, where will you head for?
Most towns along the Costa del Sol will be prepared to celebrate the last moments of 2024 and enjoy the beginning of the new year. There will be a main town square or two with music and fun and plenty of cava.
The proportion of expats tends to be high, as Spanish tradition dictates that spending the change of year is something done in one’s family home.
Torremolinos tends to party at the Plaza de la Nogalera. However, there are currently works in the square, so they may have moved the site to Av. Palma de Mallorca. As is common with the Torremolinos council, they tend to announce these things at the eleventh hour. Most years they have live music and a big tent in which everyone can gulp down the lucky 12 grapes.
In Benalmadena, the big fiesta starts at 11.30pm in the Plaza de la Mezquita, Arroyo de la Miel, and everyone who is anyone will be there.
The New Year’s Eve party in Fuengirola once again takes place in the Plaza de España from 11pm. The goodbye for the current year will be on 31 December from 11pm and will last until 3am.
Plaza de la Iglesia will be the place to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Marbella on 31 December. After the church bells strike 12, there will be live music.
Estepona always celebrates its New Year party in Plaza del Reloj at 11pm with a massive fireworks display.
